The Wooden House Walk in Risør takes you through narrow streets, open squares, and quiet alleyways in one of Europe’s best-preserved timber towns. Along the way, you’ll encounter houses, town buildings, and public spaces that tell the story of Risør as a seafaring town, a trading hub, and a vibrant coastal community. The walk follows the traces of the great town fire of 1861 and the rebuilding that shaped the town as you see it today. It also brings to life the people who lived and worked here—merchants, sailors, pharmacists, hotel owners, and families who all left their mark on Risør.
